"He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm,
and carry them close to his heart, and shall gently lead those that are with young." Isaiah 40:11

Life at Home

Life at home is going really well.  (although so much busier - really, what did I do with my time before three?) Ethan and Abigail have been very content to entertain each other.  I think they missed home.  Dave went back to work yesterday but he works from home in the afternoon so I can have a nap! The nights have been rough - Rachel's day time hours are between 1 and 4 am - but these are gradually getting better.  She does 'normal' baby things like complaining about gassiness and she smiles after a good feed.   I keep trying to get a picture of a smile but no luck yet.  She has continued with the increased amounts of milk and I have to work hard at maintaining a supply.  She still struggles with mucus from time to time, which is hard for us to see.  And she is so tired. But otherwise, she seems to be doing well.  I think she looks more and more beautiful every day.  I want to keep her forever...

We have another thumb sucker!!  It's hard to see but you'll have to trust us - her thumb really is in her mouth and she did it all by herself.  You make your big sister proud Rachel.  Below the thumb picture is one of the dress that was hand sewn by a nurse at the Rotary Flames House.  I want to say her name is Anna - if you're reading this, please give me an email and correct me if I'm wrong.  I added a few ribbons - thank you for the suggestions.  You are amazing.   And Rachel, if you grow out of this dress.....and you grow too big for the casket that is waiting for you at the Pierson Funeral Home, that's ok with us.  oh little lamb, how do we love you deeply and be ready to let you go at the same time? Jesus, be our Shepherd.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Ps 23

aw I love the thumbsucking picture! gave me chills when you menioned the casket... so easy to imagine you get to keep her and have her grow up with her sister and brother.

have you tried raspberry leaf tea for your milk supply? steeped for 15 minutes. fennel tea is even better. stay hydrated and don't skip those naps Kendra Jayne! I love you!

Rachel is so beautiful and we wish you could keep her until she was old enough to stress you out with boyfriends! The thumb sucking picture is so precious and the dress is such a keepsake.

i have to echo kathy's comments about caring for you guys!! we love you so much . . . and kendra i am just crying with you . . . i would so dearly love to see you keep that little lamb. may God give you grace to just stay in each precious moment with her and not allow your mind to run into the uncertain future.

being a mother to three is a little more tiring heh? :D yes, i wonder too what i did with all my time before three. mind you, i think the same thing when i go back even further and wonder what i did with my time before we had any children at all :) perhaps God somehow gives parents a few extra hours each day to get everything done.

how have meals been?? is your church keeping your cupboards and freezers stocked with food? also, does rachel need any clothes? we'd love to mail her a cute outfit if that would be helpful!

I guess the trick is trying to remember to live in the moment, not looking too far ahead. Enjoy each day, with all the ups and downs that may include -- and rest in His arms, knowing that so many people are praying for you all. Glad your Mom and Grandma are coming out to be there with you! Love MOM Funk
