Preschool Grad

Ethan graduated from preschool yesterday!! We all got to go and watch a little program. The teachers did a fabulous job - going way above and beyond the call of duty.  I appreciate them so much for the way they have loved our kids.  (and cared so well for us too!) I think there were about 50 kids wearing caps and gowns up on the stage singing songs.  Some of them will be in his kindergarten class starting in mid August.  Ethan had such a good time in preschool and I am going to miss it too.  Not sure how I'm going to keep him busy now....i'ts a good thing kindergarten is only a month and a half away.  Wow.  My little boy is growing up!

Abigail was so proud of her big brother! And yes, that is a hot wheels tatoo on her arm! Whatever Ethan has, she has to have too:)

Too bad Rachel wasn't looking at the camera in this one.  But she had a good time too...up until when Abigail dropped a cup of apple juice on her, in her car seat!! Then, it was time to go:)

  2. o - the brother/sister one is *so stinking cute*!!! Love it. They have a sweet little bond, don't they? i wonder how much rachel's life has affected their relationship with one another? i know i have often said that the best things my parents gave me were my 2 sisters - they comfort me like nobody else can (not even my parents) & have been among the biggest blessings in my life.

  6. When I saw the middle picture of Ethan, it made me think of Dave. Dave it seems to me that you were quite comfortable in that cap and gown too! (meaning that you loved school).... maybe your son is already following in your footsteps! There is something about Abigail that sure looks like you Kendra! I love seeing her beautiful smiling and seeing her so happy! Way to go Rachel, way to be there for Ethan's big day!
I did some reading about fentanyl because i was curious as to what was happening as you were giving her the drug. What I read was that it was 100 times more stronger than morphine! Does it just act as a pain killer for Rachel? I was originally thinking that it help her to breath or roused her back from the spell. Please don't feel the need to answer me, I know you have so much on your plate.
You guys are doing remarkable. You might feel weathered and tired, but you have held tight as a family and weathered all of life's storms together. Which I think is remarkable.
I used to work for Society for Manitobans with Disabilities and it was very obvious and spoken about that families that have a child with a disability often either separate (because of the enormity of everything) or grow stronger (despite of everything.)
You guys have a double whammy because your child is also dying.
I want to encourage you guys to make sure you guys plan date nights. For the sake of the kids and each other. Find someone from church who would be willing to bless you and when you go out agree to NOT talk about the kids. If you could do this once a week - just imagine. It is so important to be able to pull yourself outside of the bubble.
As I am writing this, i wonder if i should delete this all because maybe you will take it the wrong way, as if i am telling you to go on a date. But then i think what kind of friend would i be if i didn't rah rah behind you guys and say you are doing good and keep it up and build on each other.

    so here it is.
we are 100% behind you guys and think that you guys are doing remarkable.
    love Laura Thiessen
